Thames Hospice Sunflower Walk is back!

Thames Hospice is inviting supporters to sign up to its much-loved annual Sunflower Walk on Sunday 10 September 2023, starting and finishing in the beautiful Hospice grounds.

This year supporters can choose from three stunning routes, including a picturesque waterside 2.5k walk around Bray Lake, a 10k ramble venturing out to Dorney Lake or an exciting and more challenging half marathon route which journeys from the Hospice along the Thames Path to Windsor and back. Afterwards, walkers will have the opportunity to enjoy some well-deserved refreshments in the Hospice Gardens.

Hospice supporter Rachel Bullen is walking this year in memory of her beloved childminder Pauline. Rachel says, “The charity’s Hospice at Home Service gave Pauline her final wish, to die in the comfort of her own home surrounded by those who loved and cared for her deeply. The support Pauline received was invaluable not only to her, but also to myself and to her daughter Helen.”

This year, participants will also be able to purchase a beautiful metal sunflower in memory of their loved one which will be displayed in the Hospice gardens during the day of the Sunflower Walk and for a month following the event. Afterwards, supporters can take their metal sunflower home as a keepsake.

Rachel adds, “We cannot thank Thames Hospice enough for everything they did for Pauline and for us. The metal sunflower will be an incredibly special memento that will keep Pauline's memory alive in our hearts and minds forever."
