The community of Sandhurst joined Thames Hospice staff and volunteers to celebrate the grand opening of its new, larger charity shop last Thursday (3 August 2023).
Staff and volunteers were delighted to welcome their fabulous Hospice Patron, star of stage and screen Anita Dobson, to cut the ribbon and declare the beautiful new store officially open! A huge crowd of expectant shoppers eagerly gathered outside to greet the much loved actress and bag some fantastic bargains, from an extensive range of preloved clothing, accessories, toys and giftware.
Julie Rowley, Director of Retail at Thames Hospice, said: “We were thrilled to open the doors to our shop in Sandhurst last Thursday and were absolutely over the moon with the warm welcome from the local community. We would like to thank Anita Dobson for joining us and welcoming some of our wonderful supporters.
“Thames Hospice has been part of the Sandhurst community for over 30 years and we are forever grateful for their ongoing support which enables us to continue to provide vital care for local families.”
The store welcomed hundreds of shoppers throughout the weekend, generating enough income which could fund one night of care for three patients accessing the Hospice’s Inpatient Services.
The new store in Sandhurst offers an extensive range of pre-loved womenswear and accessories, a dedicated men’s department complete with books and media, and a fun department for children with toys, games and clothing. The shop is now open Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm.
Thames Hospice is also pleased to be opening its second store in Sandhurst on Thursday 10 August 2023, which will offer affordable preloved and upcycled furniture, as well as stylish homeware to add that finishing touch to any home. The Hospice would like to invite the community to join staff and volunteers for the opening of its exciting new Home store which will be officially unveiled by Deputy Mayor Counsellor Parm Panesar at 11am.
