Hundreds of Thames Hospice supporters took part in Thames Hospice’s festive Santa Dash at the enchanting Swinley Forest, Bracknell last Sunday (4 December 2022).
The much loved annual fun run attracted more than 500 dashers, who braved the cold and dressed up in Santa suits and reindeer antlers. Hospice supporters chose from three different routes around the forest – a 2k or 5k route for runners and walkers, or the more challenging 10k run.
Claire Redrup, Head of Community & Event Fundraising, said: “The local community always look forward to our annual Santa Dash as it’s a family favourite event to start the festive season. This year was extra special for us as we also celebrated our 35th Christmas of outstanding and compassionate care.
“The energy from our dashers was amazing and there was a red blanket of spectacular Santa suits as far as the eye could see. Thank you to everyone who got dressed up and fundraised for us. The support we received has been truly amazing and our wonderful supporters have raised over an incredible £20,000 for the Hospice.
“This day wouldn’t have been a success without all of our amazing volunteers who carried out essential duties, including registering our Santa dashers and marshalling around the forest. We couldn’t have done it without your support!”
Each dasher who crossed the finish line received a medal and got to enjoy the festive atmosphere whilst warming up with some delicious refreshments. Thames Hospice would like to thank The Crown Estate for allowing use of the forest and The Look Out and Coral Reef Waterworld for providing car parking facilities.
