The community of Woodley joined Thames Hospice staff and volunteers to celebrate the grand reopening of its new, larger store last Friday (2 December 2022).
Woodley’s Mayor, Councillor Janet Sartorel, cut the ribbon and declared the new shop open at 11am as expectant shoppers gathered outside ready to bag a bargain from a fantastic range of items including pre-loved clothing, toys, accessories, giftware and festive merchandise.
Julie Rowley, Director of Retail at Thames Hospice, said: “We were thrilled to reopen the doors to our shop in Woodley last Friday and were ecstatic with the warm reception from the local community. We would like to thank the Town’s Mayor, Councillor Janet Sartorel, for joining us and sharing her very kind words.
“Thames Hospice has been part of the Woodley community for over 14 years and we are so grateful for their ongoing support which enables us to continue to provide vital income for local families living with a terminal illness.”
After a successful opening weekend, the shop took more than £6,000, which could fund 11 days of specialist nursing care in the community supporting patients in their own homes over Christmas.
The new store in Woodley offers an extensive range of pre-loved womenswear and accessories, a dedicated men’s department complete with books and media, and a fun department for children with toys, games and clothing. There is also a selection of gifts, a beautiful range of new goods and upcycled furniture from the Hospice’s Home Studio.
The shop is now open Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm and Sundays 10am-4pm. Find out more about shopping with Thames Hospice in-store or online here.
