Thames Hospice welcomed Rt Hon Theresa May MP on Friday 4 December for a tour of the new facility which opened in October this year.
Theresa May has served as MP of Maidenhead since 1997 and is a long-term supporter of Thames Hospice's work. During the tour Mrs May spoke with patients and families and thanked staff and volunteers for their incredible work this year.
Mrs May said: "I'm delighted to continue to support Thames Hospice, which provides essential services to thousands of people in my constituency each year facing a terminal illness. It's wonderful to see this incredible new facility open so people in such desperate need can get the care they need."
Thames Hospice Chief Executive, Debbie Raven said: "We are so grateful to Mrs May for her unwavering support and commitment to our cause. I am both proud and honoured to have shown Mrs May our new facility which is ready to serve our community now and for generations to come."
Mrs May has been a staunch supporter of Thames Hospice and attended several events to support the charity. This Christmas, Mrs May will support the Hospices Light up a Life service, which will be streamed online on Sunday 13 December 2020 at 4pm.
Mrs May added: "I'm looking forward to watching the Thames Hospice Light up a Life service. Its an opportunity to reflect and remember those we've lost but also celebrate those who have helped the community, be that frontline staff or those behind-the-scenes, providing essential support during a challenging year. I would encourage you to join and watch what will be a beautiful and moving service for the local community."
Thames Hospice's annual Light up a Life service will be streamed on Sunday 13 December at 4pm and is open to everyone.
Thames Hospice has continued to provide compassionate care and support throughout this year to its community. The charity faces a 1.8 million loss of income by the end of the year, due to fundraising events being cancelled or postponed and the closure of its 22 shops, as the result of the pandemic.
