Over 700 supporters came together for the annual Sunflower Walk on Sunday, September 14th, raising an incredible £68,000 to support local families at life's most challenging time. The much-loved event, which started and finished in the charity’s beautiful Hospice gardens, saw a diverse crowd take part, including people of all ages, large groups, families, and plenty of furry friends.
Participants tackled distances of 2.5k, 10k, and a more challenging half-marathon route, with many reflecting on precious memories of their loved ones while embracing the vibrant atmosphere. A key partner in this year's event was sponsor, Blue Jelly, a workplace design and build company dedicated to creating places where people want to work. "We are incredibly proud to have sponsored this year’s Sunflower Walk,” said Cat Morgan, Head of Marketing at Blue Jelly. “It was a privilege to support an event that brings the community together for such a vital cause. The enthusiasm and dedication of the walkers were truly inspiring, and we are thrilled to see the fantastic amount raised to help the Hospice continue its essential work.”
After crossing the finishing line, all walkers received a medal from Thames Hospice Ambassador Sue Holderness, who also participated in the walk, and the celebration continued with a BBQ, refreshments, and entertainment in the Hospice gardens. “The atmosphere on the day was truly heart-warming,” said Emma Andrews, Senior Events Fundraiser at Thames Hospice. “We’re so grateful to everyone who walked, volunteered, and donated. We’re now so close to our goal of raising £70,000, and every donation will help us reach that target. The support we receive from our community, and partners like Blue Jelly, Jack and Zoe from The Creative Mole who spent the day engraving walkers’ medals with loved-one’s names, is absolutely vital in ensuring we can continue to be here for everyone who needs us.”
