We are thrilled to announce that our incredible supporter and Hospice ambassador, Sandra Jeffs, has won the Fundraiser Award at the prestigious BBC Radio Berkshire Make a Difference Awards! The award recognises Sandra's extraordinary dedication and fundraising efforts in memory of her son, Michael, who we cared for in 2022.
Sandra's fundraising journey began with her "30 for 30" campaign, a heartfelt tribute to Michael on what would have been his 30th birthday. Inspired by his words, “Mum, you’ve got to promise me you’ll be ok,” she set out to raise £30,000 for the charities that supported her family, including Thames Hospice.
Through incredible challenges like skydives, cycle rides, and Tough Mudders, Sandra rallied friends, family, and supporters to honour Michael’s life in a positive way. Her determination and passion saw her surpass her ambitious goal fourfold, raising an amazing £132,000 for The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust, Sarcoma UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, and the Hospice.
Sandra’s impact extends far beyond the money she’s raised. She has shared her journey with immense courage, helping to break down misconceptions about hospice care and showing others that it is a place of comfort, dignity, and unwavering support. Her incredible story of resilience and love has transformed personal heartbreak into a powerful legacy of generosity.
We couldn't be prouder of her win is a true testament to her strength, selflessness, and inspiring commitment to helping others.
Welcome to Thames Hospice. We will keep you up to date with the latest news and updates about our work and fundraising activities.
