Thames Hospice is thrilled to announce its Open Water Swim event is back and the perfect challenge for everyone of all levels to take the plunge and raise vital funds for the Hospice.
In partnership with Bray Lake Watersports this exciting event takes place on:
Sunday 9 June 2024 at Thames Hospice, in Bray Lake.
Thames Hospice’s Speciality Doctor, Dr Patrick Clarke embraced the thrill of the water in last year’s event. He says: “I completed a 5km swim as part of Thames Hospice’s Open Water Swim Challenge. The event was extremely well organised and the lake was a fantastic place to swim.
“I will never forget the feeling of elation as I completed the distance. I will be doing it again this year with some of my Hospice colleagues.”
The charity’s Open Water Swim Challenge offers a range of distances from 500m to 10km, which participants can swim individually or part of a team* (*5km and 10km distances).
This event is open to all swimmers aged 18 or over, whether you're a seasoned swimmer, weekend dipper or new to open water swimming. Having experienced Thames Hospice’s care and support, Susan and her family made a splash last year by taking on a 10k relay in memory of her dad. Susan says:
“Thames Hospice looked after us as a family just as much as they looked after my dad. It’s your worst nightmare losing a parent but even though it was a sad time it was a special time. We have good memories in our hearts of losing him at Thames Hospice, it was peaceful. “We always want to keep making him proud so Team Nemo will be back this year to take part in the Open Water Swim.”
With registration fees starting from £35 per person, all participants will receive a swim hat, reward and free hot drink on the day. Exclusive branded hoodies are also available to purchase for just £35.

Every penny raised helps to ensure Thames Hospice continues to care for patients and their loved ones with the utmost compassion, dignity and respect.
