Hospice launches 7-Day crowdfunder for cuddle bed

Thames Hospice has launched a 7-day crowdfunding campaign – ‘Every Cuddle Counts’ - to raise £20,000 for a new cuddle bed, enabling patients and their loved ones to share precious moments together. From Tuesday, February 25th to Monday, March 3rd, every donation will be doubled by a generous match funder, making every contribution twice as impactful.

"The cuddle bed is about giving families the gift of closeness," states Claire Redrup, Head of Public Fundraising. "It’s a hospital bed that expands to a double, allowing families to lie together and create lasting memories. This simple act of physical connection is incredibly powerful, reducing isolation and providing essential emotional support during the most challenging times."

"A cuddle bed would have meant a lot to our family," shares Claire Cleverley, whose husband was cared for at the Hospice. "Chloe and Ruby would have been able to spend more time with their dad having cuddles like they used to do at home, rather than leaning over to give him hugs, which always put distance between them."

The campaign aims to not only purchase a cuddle bed but also replace other urgently needed beds at the Hospice, thanks to the generous match funding.

How a cuddle bed can make a difference to your local community:

  • Sharing meaningful moments together: Enables families to create lasting memories during a difficult time.
  • Reduced isolation: Offers comfort and closeness to patients.
  • Emotional closure: Supports the grieving process for loved ones

Time is of the essence. This 7-day campaign is a critical opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of those facing the hardest moments. The Hospice is calling on its local community to donate and share the campaign with their friends and families.
