Physiotherapy

Our specialist palliative care physiotherapists play a key role in improving our patients’ quality of life, helping to optimise their mobility and wellbeing and to live as independently and fully as possible.

Staying independent

Our physiotherapists tailor programmes according to need and goals, supporting a patient to regain and improve mobility, strength and flexibility through gentle exercise.People can often become debilitated from their serious illness and also the side effects of treatment that they are receiving. Symptoms can include:

  • Mobility
  • Breathlessness
  • Muscle weakness
  • Pain
  • Balance
  • Fatigue
  • Anxiety

Our physiotherapists support patients in a variety of settings including on our Inpatient Unit and in our state-of-the-art Rehabilitation Centre at the Hospice, using specialist equipment. You can take a tour of our facilities here

On referral, our Physiotherapy Team will carry out a full functional, holistic assessment and will work alongside the patient and their loved ones to set a plan towards realistic and achievable goals. A vital part of their role is empowering patients to maximise their potential and independence for as long as possible.

Our Physiotherapy Team can be contacted Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm on 01753 842121.
