Inpatient care

Our Inpatient Unit is a 29-bed, specialist end-of-life and palliative care centre, located by Bray Lake on Windsor Road, Maidenhead. Surrounded by stunning landscaped gardens, many with a view of the lake, each room has an en-suite bathroom, smart television, space for families to stay over and a private terrace.

Compassionate care and support

People are admitted to the Inpatient Unit for various reasons. Some may come in for a few days of respite, to help relieve pain and manage symptoms so they are able to return home again, while others find it a safe haven in which to be cared for and comforted in their final few weeks or days. We are also here to ensure we give the best emotional, practical and spiritual support to patients and their loved ones.

Our compassionate care and support is provided by our multi-disciplinary Clinical Team of Consultant-led Doctors, Nurses, Therapists and Social Workers who work together to develop the best possible care plan, tailored to individual needs.

The Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is a dedicated space offering patients and their loved ones somewhere to reflect, think, pray or to simply have some peace away from the Inpatient Unit.

Occupational therapy

Our Team delivers specialist care providing expertise, education, equipment, and practical help to patients, their families, and carers. We visit patients in a range of settings, including their homes, at Thames Hospice and during a stay in hospital to support a smooth transition of care through the different services. We help advise on planning for patients to return home as well as arrange for the appropriate equipment and support to be in place, ensuring they are comfortable and cared for safely.

You can park for free in our large visitor's car park, located outside the main entrance of the Hospice.

    Staying over

We have a dedicated visitors bedroom with an en-suite available at the Hospice for a family member, friend or carer to stay overnight. To book please contact our Inpatient Unit Reception Manager on 01753 848973.
