Ross Kemp delights Maidenhead crowds to launch Raise the Roof fundraising appeal
Thames Hospice launched its largest ever fundraising appeal, ‘Raise the Roof’, in style with a day of celebrations amongst its community in Maidenhead to raise awareness and the final £3 million needed to complete the new state-of-the-art hospice under construction by Bray Lake.
Last Saturday (14 September 2019) large crowds gathered outside the charity’s shop on Maidenhead High Street for a big window reveal with award-winning actor and documentary maker Ross Kemp, the Deputy Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and Thames Hospice Ambassador Kate Steward. Crowds were entertained with a dance performance from Avenue Dance Company, before queuing for selfies and autographs with TV star Ross Kemp. Shoppers soaked up the electric atmosphere tucking into homemade cakes and refreshments throughout the day, whilst taking part in an amazing raffle full of prizes generously donated by local companies and businesses.
Debbie Raven, Thames Hospice Chief Executive, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the support of our community in Maidenhead for the launch of our Raise the Roof appeal. Thank you to everyone who came along to our shop to celebrate with us and donate. Special thank you to Ross Kemp for showing his support for our appeal, and to the Deputy Mayor who helped us spread the word to raise the final £3million needed for our hospice.”
