Our fundraising promise

Giving to us should be a great experience and we commit to fundraise in accordance to the Fundraising Regulator’s code of practice and our own fundraising promise. How we fundraise is as important as how much we raise. We promise to provide you with an excellent donor experience and to treat you as we would wish to be treated ourselves.

We will be clear, honest and open

We will be clear, honest, open and fair

  • We will be open and transparent about our finances and how your donation is used. We will use your gift wisely and do what we say we are going to do with it.
  • We will keep you updated about the difference your gift has made and make it easy for you to tell us how you want us to communicate with you.
  • You are welcome to visit the Hospice to see the difference your gift makes.
  • Our Fundraising Complaints Policy is clear and accessible. If you wish to make a complaint please contact us on the details below. We will provide clear and evidence-based reasons for our decisions on complaints.
  • Where we ask a third party to fundraise on our behalf, we will make the relationship clear to you. We will monitor them closely to ensure they comply with our Fundraising Promise and if we find cause for concern, we will investigate immediately.

We will be respectful

    • We comply with the Data Protection Law and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
    • We will never sell our supporters’ details and keep all personal information safe.
    • We respect your right to privacy, not put any supporter under undue pressure and always respect your decision to give or not to give. We will be clear about how to change or stop a donation.
    • If you leave a gift in your Will to Thames Hospice, it is your choice to inform us or change your Will at any time. However, by telling us, we can keep you updated on how your support may help us in the future.
    • We will always be careful and respectful when engaging with vulnerable people and have procedures in place (including those we care for and those who are bereaved).
    • We will advertise and promote ourselves with sensitivity and take care never to intentionally cause distress.

We care (our values)

    • We treat our supporters with compassion, always.
    • We will support you in your ambitions to donate or fundraise for Thames Hospice and be open with our own ambitions to raise funds in collaborative and insightful ways.
    • We are respectful of your choices. We welcome challenge if our behaviours do not reflect this and strive for equality, diversity and inclusion.
    • We are committed to giving an excellent supporter experience
We welcome your feedback and questions and will provide prompt and honest answers to any questions you have about fundraising. Contact us via our website, email supportercare@thameshospice.org.uk or call 01753 848924 (Monday to Friday 9-5)

    Make a difference

Our services are free of charge to all those in our community who need vital hospice care but this is only made possible through the charitable support and generosity of our amazing community. We need to raise £39,000 each day to fund our services 365 days a year to the people who need us most.

We’ve never needed you, our wonderful supporters, more than we need you today. Please donate what you can to help keep hospice care available for those in desperate need.
