Meet the gorgeous Selina and her husband of 16 years Gary, who are both being supported by Thames Hospice. Selina was first referred to Thames Hospice in February by her GP and District Nursing Team for pain management and symptom control, and was admitted in May for respite care.
Selina says: “Hospice care to me does not mean end-of-life, I think of it as care and support. I love it at the Hospice and want to be here, I feel safe. The nursing staff and volunteers are always there for you no matter what.”
Whilst Selina is cared for on our Inpatient Unit, Gary has had some complementary therapy and accessed our counselling services. He says: "An hour’s foot massage is just heavenly; I walk out on a cloud afterwards. The care here is perfect; it takes a total weight off my shoulders as I know Selina is being looked after."
Our new hospice will enable us to provide vital care to even more people like Selina and Gary.
