Having initially trained as a nurse, Lesley has worked in end-of-life-care, counselling, children’s services, child protection, mental health and education/mentoring.
Whilst her children were at school, she climbed the management ladder becoming Director of Nursing/Chief Nurse at three NHS Trusts, then Joint Regional Director of Nursing for the South West of England. For many years following that, she worked with the Home Office, the Department of Health and the Department of Work and Pensions. Lesley was also an external supervisor at the Open University for eight years.
In 2004/5 she founded and remains Chief Executive of The Infant Trust, a charity aiming to break the cycle of violence and abuse against children in South Africa. She volunteered at the London Olympics, is a rugby freak and an Hon. Steward at Twickenham; she loves to sing and has been part of Rock Choir for nearly 10 years. Best of all, she is Granny to four wonderful children.
