Thames Hospice is delighted to receive a generous donation of £3,000 from The Prince Philip Trust Fund to support our Children and Family Events programme, which forms an integral part of our counselling, bereavement and pastoral care services.

These events provide vital emotional support to children, young people and families following the death of a loved one. They offer a safe and nurturing space where families can begin to rebuild their lives, helping them to feel less alone during an incredibly difficult time. The impact of these sessions is often lifelong, with benefits continuing long after the events themselves have ended.

Thanks to the generosity of The Prince Philip Trust Fund, Thames Hospice will be able to deliver a full programme of Children and Family Events throughout 2026. Hosted at the Hospice, each event is centred around a theme and includes activities designed to support a wide range of ages. Sessions often feature external therapists or specialist activity providers, ensuring children and families receive expert, compassionate support.

By taking part, children and families are supported to build resilience and develop practical coping strategies to help them adapt to life after loss. Being alongside other children who have experienced similar bereavement can be particularly powerful, and many participants go on to form lasting friendships that provide ongoing peer support.

The Prince Philip Trust Fund has been a valued supporter of Thames Hospice since 2001. The vital work of our counselling, bereavement and pastoral care team would not be possible without the continued generosity of community partners like this.

Chris Aitken, Secretary and Trustee of The Prince Philip Trust Fund, said:

“Thames Hospice plays such an important role in our local community, supporting those with life-limiting illnesses and their families at what is an incredibly difficult time in their lives. Their expertise, care and compassion are vital for those who use and need their services, and the Prince Philip Trust Fund is only too pleased to support them in their work.”

We are sincerely grateful to The Prince Philip Trust Fund for helping us continue to make a meaningful difference to the lives of bereaved children and families in our community.
