We have been nominated for Charity of the Year at the Thames Valley Business and Community Awards, taking place on Wednesday 31 January.

Organised by South West Expo and backed by The Business Exchange, the sell-out gala event is at the Macdonald Berystede Hotel & Spa, in Ascot, and recognises and celebrates the very best in local talent and achievement.

We have been nominated for the expert palliative and end-of-life care services we offer to people living in East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire, at home and in our Hospice in Windsor. We will be up against five other nominees in the field.

Thames Hospice Chief Executive, Debbie Raven, said: "It is an honour to be nominated for this award. Last year we celebrated our 30th year caring for families in the Thames Valley, and we have ambitious plans to expand our services so we can continue supporting the growing numbers of people who so desperately need us. It would be amazing to be recognised for our achievements."

More than 150 nominations were received for the 13 categories, which include Charity of the Year and Outstanding Business of the Year. The Thames Valley Business and Community Awards judging process saw a range of esteemed entrepreneurs come together to scrutinise finalists and select the record-breaking 88 short-listed nominees up for awards on the night.

Alec Jones-hall, Director of Thames Valley Business and Community Awards said: "We are proud and excited to be celebrating outstanding achievement across the region and rewarding those who are making a huge impact throughout the Thames Valley. It is also a time for the business community to come together, not only to celebrate the accomplishments of those shortlisted and the deserving winners of each category, but also to mark the fact that we all continue to play a vital role in the success of our region and that its future achievements will be built on the foundations we lay today."
