Thames Hospice Home store opens in Maidenhead

Thames Hospice dazzled a huge crowd of eager shoppers last Friday (11 October) as it opened its brand new Home store for business.

The Worshipful Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Councillor Sayonara Luxton cut the ribbon to officially open the fantastic new Home store premises in Maidenhead as customers gathered outside ready to purchase a bargain from the fantastic choice of pre-loved furniture and homeware.

The first weekend of trading was a huge success, with more than 9,000 of sales generated for the charity. This could pay for two specialist mattresses for the Hospices Inpatient Unit, allowing a patient to be comfortable for long periods of time.

Julie Rowley, Director of Retail at Thames Hospice, said: "We were thrilled to open the doors to our new Home store in Maidenhead on Friday and we were overwhelmed and delighted by the fantastic response from our loyal customers and new visitors. Our store was busy all afternoon and throughout the weekend. Our sincere thanks to our donors for the fantastic donations of furniture to our new Home store allowing us to support the work of the charity.

"This has been a major move for us from Windsor to Maidenhead and we are so amazed by the positive comments, feedback and support from our customers. We look forward to being part of the local community for many years to come."

The new store includes a modern, contemporary showroom showcasing a full range of furniture and homeware from various departments including lounge, dining, kitchen, bedroom and childrens. There is also a brand new Home Studio where customers can purchase pieces of upcycled furniture, or commission their own pieces to be upcycled. Thames Hospice Home is now open Monday-Saturday, 9.30am-5.30pm, and Sunday 11am 5pm.
