Sue Holderness launches Gerrards Cross shop

Actress Sue Holderness, best known for her role as Marlene in BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses, cut the ribbon on the high street shop, as members of the local community flocked to be first in the queue to bag sought-after donations.

Sue was joined by special guests, Councillor Chris Brown, Chairman of Gerrards Cross Town Council, and Thames Hospice representatives, patient Carol Ellis and Nurse Veronica Showers (pictured with Sue Holderness), who cut a bespoke Thames Hospice cake to mark the occasion.

The afternoon generated more than £1,000 and Julie Rowley, Thames Hospice Director of Retail, said: ‘’We were thrilled to open the doors of our new shop and delighted to get such a warm welcome from the local community. Our special guests added to what was already such an exciting day and they enjoyed chatting to all our customers.

“We were privileged to have Carol Ellis, one of our patients, together with Veronica Showers, a Thames Hospice Nurse, there to highlight how important our shops are in generating income so we can continue to provide our services.’’

The Gerrards Cross shop has a fantastic boutique feel, with a striking window display and bright, welcoming atmosphere; creating a unique charity shopping experience. The store -open Monday to Saturday, 9am-5pm, and Sunday 11am-5pm - offers high-end women’s clothing, homeware, a retro menswear section and a concession of new bags and accessories.

We need donations and volunteer support to ensure the shop’s continued success. If you can give us any preloved items, or your time in our Gerrards Cross shop, please email us or call 01753 848945.
