Hundreds of supporters suited up for Thames Hospice’s festive Santa Dash at Swinley Forest, Bracknell, on Sunday 5 December.
The annual fun run attracted 600 participants dressed in Santa suits, reindeer antlers, and their own Christmas creations. Hospice supporters could choose from three different routes around the forest – a 2k or 5k route for runners and walkers, or the more challenging 10k run.
Alison Evans, Head of Community and Events Fundraising, said: “Our annual Santa Dash is always such a great event which kicks off the Christmas season. We really missed not being able to host it last year due to coronavirus restrictions, so it felt extra special to get our community together again for one of our favourite festive events.
“There was a fantastic atmosphere and the sea of red Santa suits was a sight to behold. Thank you to everyone who signed up and fundraised for us; the support we’ve been shown has been truly amazing. So far our wonderful supporters have raised an incredible £35,000 for the Hospice.
“Thank you also to our incredible volunteers who carried out important duties, including registering our Santa Dashers and marshalling around the course - we couldn’t have done it without their loyal support.”
After the dash, Thames Hospice supporters soaked up the festive atmosphere whilst warming up with some delicious refreshments. Santa’s grotto was open for the little dashers who received presents donated by Tesco in Dedworth, and wonderful raffle prizes were up for grabs which were kindly donated by Waitrose in Windsor and Slough Ice Arena. Thames Hospice would also like to thank The Crown Estate for allowing use of the forest, The Look Out and Coral Reef Waterworld for providing car parking facilities and Jit Bedi from Bespoke Balloons for providing fun decorations for the events area.
