Thames Hospice is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Chair of Trustees, Jonathan Jones. Jonathan has been a Trustee at Thames Hospice since 2011, during which time he has Chaired the Patient Care and Quality Committee which is at the very heart of the Hospice. Before joining the Thames Hospice Jonathan spent 22 years of his career working as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Heatherwood & Wexham Park NHS Hospitals, before retiring in 2012. He was also Medical Director of the Trust for more than four years, during which time he developed a wide knowledge of the local health community.
Jonathan takes over from Martin Jervis, who is to retire from his role as Chair after eight years leading the Board of Trustees and serving two full terms.
Debbie Raven, Chief Executive at Thames Hospice, said: "We are delighted to have someone of Jonathan's calibre to lead Thames Hospices Board of Trustees. He brings a huge wealth of knowledge and experience, as well as a deep passion for improving end-of-life care for our community.
"I would like to express my deep gratitude to our outgoing Chair Martin for his unstinting commitment to Thames Hospice over the past eight years. Martin has been an exceptional Chair and a huge support to me personally and to the organisation."
Thames Hospice also bids a fond farewell to Trustee Bob Dwyer, who has devoted many years to the charity. Bob began his journey with the Hospice as a volunteer driver before becoming a Trustee.
