Thames Hospice was absolutely beaming today (31 July 2025) as colleagues got ready to celebrate National Sunflower Day this weekend, bringing an abundance of cheer and vibrant colour to patients, families and Hospice colleagues.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of Longacres Garden Centre, the Hospice was transformed by a sea of stunning sunflowers. From the café terrace to Inpatient Services and the Wellbeing Centre, these joyful blooms brought a burst of summer sunshine to every corner. Many of our colleagues embraced the celebration in style - with some even donning brilliant sunflower costumes, adding extra smiles all around!
Making it a truly memorable and uplifting occasion the entire team joined in the fun, including colleagues from the Hospice at Home team who will be walking together at the charity’s much-loved Sunflower Walk on Sunday 14 September.
Spreading the sunshine further and celebrating National Sunflower Day, Thames Hospice is encouraging people to sign up for the Sunflower Walk by offering a free, beautiful hand-crafted sunflower pin badge to everyone that registers this weekend, 2-3 August. It's a wonderful way to continue the celebration and support your local Hospice. Find all the details and sign up at thameshospice.org.uk/sunflower-walk
