Maidenhead Homestore celebrates key milestone

Thames Hospice is celebrating the first anniversary of its Maidenhead Homestore’s move to Boyn Valley Road, with a special event on Thursday 4 December from 9am. 

One year on from relocating from Reform Road, the Homestore has enjoyed a highly successful twelve months, with donated homeware and furniture remaining at the heart of its offering. Annie Campbell, Interim Retail Director at Thames Hospice, reflected on the milestone: 

“It’s been an amazing year. The store has been really popular, and we’re delighted that customers from our previous store in Reform Road are still supporting us, alongside welcoming many new visitors discovering our Homestore for the first time. The team have worked tirelessly over the year to ensure the store is always looking as good as it can be. “We have a terrific community of customers and volunteers. We couldn’t exist without the generous donations we receive from the local community and are always amazed by the generosity of our local supporters.” 

Sustainability remains central to the Homestore’s mission. The onsite Homestudio, which also moved to Boyn Valley Road last year, continues to transform worn and tired donated furniture into unique, upcycled pieces, thanks to a dedicated team of creative colleagues and talented volunteers. Annie Campbell continued: 

“Moving the Homestore to Boyn Valley Road was an ambitious step as the new store is almost double the size of the former space. But the move has opened up incredible opportunities for us and has allowed us to increase our sales by almost a third compared to last year. “The new Homestore now features a large children’s zone with toys, games, and books, ample parking, and a small coffee shop serving drinks and cake. We have recruited more volunteers for a variety of roles, and the local community has been so supportive in donating preloved items of furniture and homeware for us to sell to be reloved.” 

To mark the anniversary, the Homestore is inviting the community to join the celebration, explore the beautifully festive store, and enjoy a day of community spirit, sustainability, and fun.
