The Louis Baylis Trust made an amazing £115k donation to Thames Hospice this February (Monday 5) as part of the charity's Capital Appeal to help fund its new hospice.

In July 2017, the palliative and end-of-life-care organisation was granted planning permission to build a state-of-the-art hospice, by Bray Lake, in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. The £115k was the Trusts largest single donation and will fund the Physiotherapy Centre in the new build.

Thames Hospice Chief Executive Debbie Raven, who received the cheque from the Trusts representatives at the Hospice, in Windsor, said: "We would like to sincerely thank the Trust for such an incredible donation to Thames Hospice. Physical exercise is so important for our patients, and this funding will mean we can ensure people have access to these services when they need them."

Set to open inside the new hospice in 2020, the Physiotherapy Centre, which will be called The Louis Baylis Gym, will offer specialist exercise classes, weights and one-on-one and group sessions to help improve patient's physical and mental health.

Louis Baylis Trust chairman Peter Sands said: "We have worked with hospices before and are familiar with the wider hospice movement. I guess as trustees we felt it touches everyone because we probably all have family and friends or someone who could need this sort of help."
