Thames Hospice is inviting supporters to sign up to its annual Sunflower Walk and walk to remember their loved ones on Saturday 18 June 2022 at 10am, starting and finishing in the stunning Hospice grounds.
Supporters can choose from a picturesque 2.5k, 4k or 10k walking route around the Hospice or, alternatively, from a remote location of their choice. Afterwards, participants will be treated to a fantastic afternoon of Jubilee-themed fun, entertainment and refreshments in the Hospice gardens to celebrate our Queen’s 70 magnificent years on the throne.
Alison Evans, Head of Events and Community Fundraising said: “We are so thrilled to be hosting our much-loved Sunflower Walk at the Hospice this year. It means everything to us to be amongst our supporters once again after the restrictions of our events over the past two years.
“This year is special in so many ways and we want to make it the biggest and best Sunflower Walk ever. I would like to encourage everyone to please sign up, spread the word and help raise vital funds so we can continue to give people dignity, compassion and the best possible hospice care and support now and always.”
Nicky, a supporter of the Hospice, and her family will be taking part in the Sunflower Walk for the first time in memory of her father-in-law Ron, who passed away 10 years ago.
Nicky says: “The walk is a chance to celebrate Ron’s life together. He couldn’t say enough wonderful things about his stay at the Hospice, and he would be very supportive of us doing this. It helps us get through this poignant anniversary to do something in his name and know that he would have been proud of that.
“The Hospice is an amazing place which runs on donations and people giving, so it is so important to be able to provide these wonderful services to not just the people who are going through a life-limiting illness, but to families too.”
