Crowds flocked to the opening of our newly located shop in Maidenhead town centre on Wednesday 12 April 2017.

The shop's staff and army of volunteers welcomed shoppers and special guests, including the Royal Boroughs Deputy Mayor, Councillor John Lenton, and his wife, Deputy Mayoress Mrs Margaret Lenton, and Clare Cross, one of the Hospice's nursing team. We were also delighted to share the special day with Sue Crosslands, who is currently accessing our Day Therapy Services. The Deputy Mayor cut the ribbon and spoke about the vital work of the Hospice and the importance of the money raised through the charity's 17 retail shops situated across the Thames Valley.

The afternoon generated more than £2,500. Julie Rowley, Director of Retail, said: "We were thrilled to open the doors of our newly located shop and delighted to receive such a warm welcome from the local community of Maidenhead, many of whom are such loyal supporters of Thames Hospice. We were very privileged to welcome our special guests, who were there to help us celebrate and highlight how important our shops are in generating income for the Hospice."

The Maidenhead shop, in its new prime spot, has a striking window display and contemporary design; creating an outstanding charity shopping experience. The store offers womenswear and accessories, alongside customised departments - including a vibrant children's area and bespoke men's section - and a unique retro and urban section featuring vinyl, novelty gifts, books, and games. The shop also stocks a concession of new accessories and gifts. Thames Hospice in Maidenhead is open 9am-5pm, Monday to Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sunday, and is situated on 51 High Street.

The charity's 17 stores, across the Thames Valley, contribute roughly a third of the income needed to support the Hospice services. We are always in need of more donations of pre-loved clothing, homeware and accessories, to keep our shops well stocked. Donations can be dropped into any of our stores and you can find your nearest store here. If you are interested in joining the retail volunteer team please email or call 01753 848945.
