Hospice lands three prestigious awards
Thames Hospice picked up three awards at the prestigious International Journal of Palliative Nursing Awards 2015 (IJPN Awards) last night (Tuesday 14 September).
Organised by the International Journal of Palliative Nursing, the IJPN Awards - held at the Honourable Artillery Company in London - recognise excellence in palliative and hospice care across the globe.
Debbie Raven, Thames Hospice Chief Executive, was awarded second place for Palliative Care Nurse of the Year; Windsor resident and Thames Hospice Ambassador, Dave Ackroyd, came third in the Service User/Carer/Volunteer of the Year category; and the Thames Hospice Pastoral Care Team landed third place in the Innovation Award section, for their help in setting up The Sanctuary - the Hospice’s unique, multi-faith, indoor and outdoor space.
Debbie Raven, Thames Hospice Chief Executive, said: “We are proud to have been honoured in every category we were nominated for by our peers in palliative care. It was a very special evening and it’s a fantastic achievement to have been recognised from the hundreds of nominations.”
Debbie was recognised for using her experience in specialist palliative care to deliver the highest quality of care to patients - their families and carers. Dave Ackroyd, whose parents accessed Thames Hospice's services, was awarded for being the face of the Thames Hospice Local Lottery campaign and an inspirational speaker for the charity.
