Sue's story

“The eBay team is great fun. It’s a really friendly, supportive group—and we have a good laugh while we work.”

For Sue, retirement hasn’t meant slowing down. While she spends much of her time caring for her family—a role she cherishes—it’s her weekly volunteering shift with the eBay team at Thames Hospice that gives her a different kind of joy.

“I’ve always been happy looking after my family,” she says, “but it’s great to get out once a week and do something different. The Hospice is very close to my heart, so I knew I wanted to help—but I didn’t want anything too demanding.”

With years of experience as a production manager, Sue quickly found a role that suited her perfectly: packing up eBay parcels for posting.

“It just made sense,” she explains. “I’m used to organising and working efficiently, so packing parcels felt like a natural fit. I absolutely love it.”

But it’s not just the task itself that keeps her coming back each week. “The eBay team is great fun. It’s a really friendly, supportive group—and we have a good laugh while we work. I really look forward to it.”
