Kelly's story
“I go home feeling I have made a difference. I love the buzz of being in Windsor. I just love it and it ticks all the boxes for me.”

Meet Kelly
Kelly has been a volunteer at the Windsor store for a number of years, supporting the award-winning Vintage & Retro shop with her time, energy and enthusiasm. “I started volunteering 10 years ago which I really enjoyed but decided to go into paid employ-ment but then came back to volunteering three years ago, working as part of the Wind-sor store team,” Kelly explains.
Since returning, she has become a valued part of the Windsor store team, which is known for its unique vintage collection. The shop is a recognised local attraction, listed in Time Out magazine’s top places to visit in Windsor, and its clothing, furniture and col-lectibles are often used in film and television productions.
Working two shifts a week, Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoons, Kelly takes on a variety of tasks. She is an all-rounder in the shop, helping on the till, welcoming customers, processing donations, and supporting displays and visual merchandising. She also highlights that there is something for everyone, with plenty of behind-the-scenes tasks such as sorting, steaming and pricing for those who prefer less customer interaction.
Kelly says that the best part is the people and the atmosphere: “I love meeting people, being part of a lovely, creative team and know I am doing something worthwhile.”
In addition, the role works well alongside her passion for travelling, giving her the flexi-bility to balance both. “Volunteering allows me to be really flexible with my holiday plans,” she says.
Alongside her work in the Windsor store, she has also volunteered at the Hospice itself, where she says, “I feel it is such a huge part of the local community and is there when you may need support. The staff and volunteers make it what it is and make you feel so welcome.”
For Kelly, the experience is only rewarding. “I go home feeling I have made a differ-ence. I love the buzz of being in Windsor. I just love it and it ticks all the boxes for me.”
