Julie’s story

“I just fancied doing something a bit different one afternoon a week where I could chat to people and give a bit back.”
By day, Julie is a dedicated dog walker, spending her time with four-legged companions and enjoying the great outdoors. But when the weekend rolls around, she trades paw prints for price tags, generously giving up her Saturday afternoons to help out in the Maidenhead Homestore.
“I just fancied doing something a bit different,” Julie says. “One afternoon a week where I could chat to people and give a bit back.”
Now a regular face on Saturdays, Julie helps keep things ticking—tidying, serving customers, and adding her creative flair to the displays. With a soft spot for shabby chic, she has a knack for spotting second-hand gems and pulling a room set together.
“I like to think I’m creative, with a good eye for spotting gems and decorating our room sets,” she shares. Her love for shabby chic style is evident in the charming displays she helps to create.
For Julie, it’s not just about giving back—it’s also a refreshing change of pace. “Walking dogs is great, but this is something totally different. Plus, I get to talk to humans for a change!”
