We’re an independent charity and only receive one third of our funding from the NHS. It currently costs more than £49,000 a day to provide our care, so every pound really does make a huge difference to us.
If you have private health insurance, you may be able to help Thames Hospice with a claim for the care we’re providing. Many health insurers are willing to recognise services provided to their members in the form of a donation to the Hospice. You might have private health insurance through work or may have taken it out yourself. Your claim could help us care for more people who need us.
If you have insurance, please consider completing the form below which we can use to approach your insurer asking for a donation to help in funding future care at the Hospice at no cost to you. You don’t need to do anything else - we will liaise with your insurer on your behalf.
Please don’t worry if you don’t have insurance. All our care is free of charge. If you don’t already have health insurance, don’t take it out on our behalf, as it’s unlikely you’d be covered for existing conditions so we wouldn’t be able to request a donation.
While your health insurance company doesn’t need to pay for the support you’ve received from us, many providers are willing to make a donation. You don’t need to have stayed on our ward for us to apply for a donation; we can still request one if you’ve received support at home or attended one of our day hospices.
If you have private health insurance and are happy for us to approach your insurer for a contribution to our costs, please complete the form below.
We will contact your insurer and ask for a donation in support of the care the Hospice has provided. There is absolutely no obligation for you to provide us with your details, but if you can it is very much appreciated.
Some health insurance companies make donations to Thames Hospice when their customers are referred to us. They recognise that by accepting our care, their customers are saving the insurance company the cost of a stay in a private hospital.
Every claim is as unique as the patient we are caring for. Depending on the provider, health insurance plans can cover a range of hospice services. Sadly, some insurers specifically exclude hospices, and some policies exclude certain medical conditions.
Recent research by Hospice UK lists the following insurance providers as supportive to hospices:
Other companies may also be willing to make a donation, so it’s always worth filling in the form just in case.
