The Education Team is made up of experienced practitioners and educationalists, supported by our team administrators. The Education Team work in collaboration with the wider Hospice team, drawing on their knowledge, experience and expertise to support our education and training sessions.

Andrea worked for more than six years on the Inpatient Unit as a Staff Nurse and Sister at Thames Hospice, before moving into training and education as the Practice Educator.
Andrea has always found training staff both formally and informally very rewarding, so the opportunity to work as Practice Educator has been the perfect move for her. She is currently completing her postgraduate certificate in education for health professionals.
Prior to Thames Hospice Andrea worked at Harefield Hospital for 17 years as a Senior Sister.
Andrea says:
"For personal reasons I wasn’t able to work for three years and this provided an opportunity to rethink what I wanted to do. The opportunity to work at the Hospice came up, and I haven’t looked back. I have been at the Hospice for over ten years now and absolutely love working here. I am passionate about the work we do, and how we can improve the patient and family experience through teaching, training and education."

Alison has a varied career in medical nursing and worked as a lecturer practitioner and senior lecturer prior to joining the Hospice.
Alison worked as a staff nurse on the Inpatient Unit before moving to the Education Team in 2021.
Carol's role as Assistant Education Practitioner involves providing training of Health Care Assistants as part of their induction programme (Care Certificate, QCF Level 3 etc.)
She also helps Health Care Assistants gain their clinical skills competencies by training them in the classroom and practical skills, enabling them to provide the best possible care to patients. Carol also manages Mandatory Training for all staff in Fire and Manual Handling.
Carol has enjoyed a long career at Thames Hospice, working on the Inpatient Unit for over 20 years and is delighted to be bringing her wealth of experience to the Education Team. Carol has always had a special interest in the teaching, learning and development of staff and sharing the knowledge gained at Thames Hospice which has led to her joining the Thames Hospice Education and Training Team in 2020.
Carol says:
"My passion is to share my knowledge with new Health Care Assistant's and I love the teaching side of my role and get great pleasure in seeing others progress in the organisation and beyond."
Jayne Armantrading joined Thames Hospice in April 2021 as the Education Office Assistant, supporting the team with general administrative duties relating to the education, training and development of staff and volunteers across the charity.
She has previously worked in the training industry for over 20 years as Course Administrator, arranging all aspects of training in the UK and as far afield as Kuwait and Australia.
Jayne feels very proud to be part of such a caring organisation.
