Recommended Summary Plan for Emergency Care and Treatment

Suitable for: For employees who are engaged in the ReSPECT process either as senior clinicians enabling completion and sign off of ReSPECT forms, OR to inform understanding of the process and your part in supporting this.

ReSPECT is a process that creates personalised recommendations for a person’s clinical care in a future emergency in a situation when they are unable to make or express choices. ReSPECT is recognised by all health care professionals e.g. paramedics, GPs, community, hospitals, hospices.

This session will provide:

• An overview of the importance of the ReSPECT conversation considering the process and legalities
• A revision of Advance Care Planning, Resuscitation and Mental Capacity
• An opportunity to explore the skills required to initiate the ReSPECT conversation and how to record appropriately
• An outline of the ReSPECT competency process at Thames Hospice

Please be advised that in order to sign off ReSPECT forms you are required to demonstrate competence in practice in your place of work.

This face2face course will be will be delivered at Thames Hospice's Education Centre, Windsor Road, Maidenhead SL6 2DN. Light refreshments will be provided.
